A Contrast Paragraph Of Male And Female
In the study of the differences between male and females, we noticed that opinions are affected by gender. For a better understanding, we propose several points to discuss this issue. First of all, We will focus on the influence of language and education. Second, we will give examples of the society situation in different genders. These statements allow us to observe this phenomenon from different perspectives.
People's understanding of gender is usually inseparable from the growth process. During adolescence, people are usually influenced by their peers while studying in school. Various behaviors, from inappropriate sexual comments and gestures to sexual violence, are popular with boys and are regarded as masculine exercises in the company of other boys. Moreover, a critical way for boys to position themselves as heterosexual males with the female/feminine as the object of their desire. On the other hand, females will need to face sexual comments in their daily life. "Female language" is produced by women under socialization. Its characteristic lies in causing the uncertainty of the tone, weakening the power of speech and excessive politeness. Women therefore fall into a dilemma: if they do not meet the expectations of society, they are considered to have no femininity; if they are used, they will appear weightless and lack self-confidence. According to the sourse, tennagers grandly form differences in using words, women preserve the purity of language, but men’s language is full of life, power, imagination and creativity. It will affect their personality at the same time, it might make male have more courage to speak up. In society, women usually play a softer role; on the contrary, men are a more powerful role, it could be related to the social expectation. People have been taught one should meet the expectations of society, grandly accept the situation and shape our performance or career path. This may also cause socioeconomic status issues and gender stereotypes.
In terms of language, gender differences may affect people's choice of vocabulary in different situations. This research predicts whether there is a difference in vocabulary use between male and female adolescents in Taiwan. The results of the study show that male and female adolescents have different attitudes toward language use. For example, women may use standard and polite forms of language, while some men use vulgar and impolite forms of language. In previous periods, in terms of gender temperament, men who were more feminine would be called sissy, and more masculine would be called tough girls. This is generally considered sexist language.
The influence of different genders in language use is closely related to social phenomena, and may cause differences in social status. In the matter of linguistic competence- the ability to produce knowledge and understand it via language-, sociolinguistics and linguistic anthropologists believe that only knowledge of structure and morphology cannot help a person to communicate with others. Instead, they think that one needs to know the social norms people use in different languages in order to interact with them. People gradually learn how to use language in specific social situations and develop communicative competence. Therefore, language and social norms are dynamic and interconnected. As people use language in respect to these norms, it plays a vital role in manifesting and sustaining social standards and can be a tool for reproducing power relations and gender oppression. One of the examples to show this interconnection would be the fact that there is no equivalent for "sir" to use in addressing a female authority This fact cannot be related to the language itself, but it is correlated to the perception that authorities have always been male. The other example is the way women get addressed by miss, Mrs., or Ms., while Men are only addressed by Mr., which is a term that shows their gender, not marital status. Unlike men, women's relationships can affect their social status, and they can be judged and qualified based on it.
In the matter of linguistic competence the ability to produce knowledge and understand it via language-, sociolinguists believe that only knowledge of structure and morphology cannot help a person to communicate with others. Instead, sociolinguists think that one needs to know the social norms people use in different languages in order to interact with others. Both male and females gradually learn how to use language in specific social situations and develop communicative competence. Therefore, language and social norms are dynamic and interconnected. As males and females use language in respect to these norms, sociolinguistics plays a vital role in manifesting and sustaining social standards and can be a tool for reproducing power relations and gender oppression. One of the examples to show this interconnection would be the fact that there is no equivalent for "sir" to use in addressing a female authority. This fact cannot be related to the language itself, but it is correlated to the perception that authorities have always been male.
When it comes to social status, gender differences may lead to different treatments in the workplace. There are many issues of equality between men and women in society, and the status of women is not as unequal as before, but there are still inequalities in the workplace. One example is that it is difficult for women to return to work after giving birth. Although the government has guaranteed maternity leave, there are still many companies that do not allow women to take office. Why do women unequally in the workplace? Five points have been organised here. First, work intensity and business trips. Some companies often have to work overtime to write reports or work in different places on business; many people think that women are weak and can't afford it, so they will emphasise recruiting only men when recruiting employees. The second point is that women need to take maternity leave. The company thinks that it will affect work planning problems. The job vacancy during this period will cause a lot of trouble for the company. The third point is that the company thinks it is more normal for men to do the drink and socialise, and it is also more important for men to expand their business. Finally, the balance between men and women, for example, in financial institutions, most of them are jobs chosen by women, but companies will want to balance the ratio between men and women, so the admission rate for boys is higher.
As mentioned above, we can understand that there are many differences between men and women. Whether it is physical or gender equality, you can see all kinds of content in this article. But no matter what gender, whether in the workplace, society, etc., we must treat them with respect and equality.
